Rags to Stitches WTG

Meeting Monday afternoons from 1.30 to 3.30pm.

The Rags to Stitches Working Together Group aims to be a group whose focus is on recycling, reusing, upcycling and repurposing predominantly textiles but also any item that can be stitched or embellished in some way.

What can participants work on?

Wearable clothing and accessories such as jewellery, bags, hats, shoes and scarves plus 3D homewares, such as vases, lamps and lampshades, covered furniture, floor rugs and bed quilts, cushions, vessels small and large and more.

Our vision is that at each gathering (meeting is too formal) we will have those willing, do a show and tell of items they are working on or have completed or items they have found or seen that they would like to have a go at. We envisage participants will also work on their own projects during the afternoon.

We aim to share techniques to inspire each other.

We aim to have demonstration afternoons & guest artists who are happy to talk about how they transform and create their works of art.

We aim to organise group trips to textile and wearable art exhibitions or at the very least let people know of exhibitions they might be interested in (especially and foremost ones at BICAS).

We aim to be a group that provides friendships formed in shared interests and lots of conversations and laughs.

We aim to be a group that the members really look forward to attending each fortnight.

No bullying, inappropriate speech or behaviour that is detrimental to the group harmony will not be tolerated and those involved will be asked to adjust their behaviour or leave the group.

Group Fees will be $4 BICAS member $1 RAGS kitty per person per week.

$11 non BICAS member $1 RAGS kitty per person per week. (Subject to change)
